Record Store Day = Cellarscape live in-store - February 24, 2011

We're very excited and proud to officially announce that as part of the globally-recognised Record Store Day on April 16, Cellarscape have been invited to perform live inside Bromley's independent store, Head.

Record Store Day (http://www.recordstoreday.com) was founded in 2007 by Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave and Brian Poehner as a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally. This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists in various countries across the globe make special appearances and performances. As SkyBabyRecords is an independent label, we're thrilled Cellarscape have been asked to be a part of the global celebrations.

Cellarscape (live line-up of Paul Terry – acoustic guitar/vox; Carole Carpenter – violin; Niki Jones – acoustic bass) will perform a full-length unplugged set inside Bromley's film/music store Head, and exclusive Cellarscape promo pieces will be available in-store, just for this special day on Saturday April 16. As an additional reason for excitement, Cellarscape may also perform multiple sets throughout the store's opening hours of 9am – 6pm.

More on this in the coming weeks, but for now, keep up to date with all of the Record Store Day happenings at Head's official Facebook page:

January Blues? Have 3 FREE Songs! - January 18, 2011

January's a funny ol' month: everyone's skint... the back-to-work blues kick in... So we at SkyBabyRecords have decided to help rectify both these things. Inspired by that weird 'Triple-Play' promise we get these days with movies (although a Blu-ray, a DVD, and a Digital file of the same bloody film are hardly that exciting), we took that phrase, and made it make sense:

SBR is here to make January jubilant again: Click on the 'Music & Lyrics' link on the left-hand side nav bar, and you'll be transported to a section where you see a proper 'Triple-Play': 3 FREE FULL-LENGTH and positively-charged, spring-in-their-stride cuts from Cellarscape's three records, as a special treat while we count down towards this April's brand new EP, 'A Theta/Delta Union'.

So, click on 'Music & Lyrics', claim your three free chirpy songs, and enjoy! Do us a small favour in return: join the official Facebook Page for Cellarscape (if you haven't already), and tweet, email your friends & family this link about our 'Triple Play' offer: http://www.sbrecords.co.uk/?section=music – that would be marvellous. Thank you, dear listener!

Little White Lies Honours 'Furred' - January 9, 2011

At the opening night of the 2011 London Short Film Festival, 'The Furred Man' (written & directed by Paul Williams, and produced & scored by SBR's Paul Terry) scooped the Little White Lies Best Lo-Budget Film Award.

The award was presented after nine short films were shown, and was introduced by the curator of the festival, Philip Ilson. Little White Lies, the sponsors, is the highly acclaimed bi-monthly film & culture magazine – SBRs' favourite film publication in fact, so the award is especially gratifying.

This the marks the third award for 'The Furred Man', and its 15th international film festival to date, a mere three months into its festival campaign.

You can see photos of Williams & Terry with the award here:
http://www.facebook.com/TheFurredMan

Plans for the release of 'The Furred Man' original soundtrack are scheduled for summer 2011.

'The Furred Man' festival success continues - January 4, 2011

'The Furred Man' (written/directed by Paul Williams & produced/scored by SBR's Paul Terry) has picked up for yet more international festivals, and 2011 has barely begun...

Bringing the total to 14 festivals so far, the award-winning horror-comedy will be showing at the prestigious Festivus Film Festival (Denver, Colorado, Jan 13-16); Berlin British Shorts Film Festival (Berlin, Germany, Jan 14-17); and The Dam Short Film Festival (Boulder, Nevada, Feb 9-12).

On this Friday Jan 7th, at London's world-renowned ICA, 'The Furred Man' is in the running for the Little White Lies Best Lo-Budget Film Award as part of The London Short Film Festival 2011. Tickets for the event are available here: http://www.ica.org.uk/27372/Film/New-Shorts-LoBudget-Mayhem.html

The original soundtrack to 'The Furred Man' by Paul Terry will be released with bonus tracks later in 2011.

SBR's 'Best of 2010' - January 2, 2011

To kick-start the new year we thought it would be a nice idea to share with you our favourite music & films of 2010. So, in no particular order, here they are:

BEST ALBUMS:
• The Unwinding Hours – 'The Unwinding Hours'
• Anneke Van Giersbergen & Agua de Annique – 'Live In Europe'
• Linkin Park – 'A Thousand Suns'
• Sevendust – 'Cold Day Memory'
• Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders – 'Red Light Fever'

BEST FILMS:
• 'Mother' (Dir: Bong Joon-Ho)
• 'Inception' (Dir: Christopher Nolan)
• 'How To Train Your Dragon' (Dir: Dean DeBlois & Chris Sanders)
• 'Monsters' (Dir: Gareth Edwards)
• 'I Saw The Devil' (Dir: Kim Ji-Woon)

2011 already looks like it's going to be chock-full of exceptional releases – we're most excited about Devin Townsend's opuses 'Deconstruction' & 'Ghost'.

Come on down, number 2011! - January 1, 2011

Happy New Year everyone! SBR has a ton of stuff planned for the next 12 months, and we hope you will join us for the ride through acoustic vibes, orchestral swells, pounding beats & searing riffs...

Merry Christmas everyone! - December 25, 2010

Huge merriment to you all! Thank you for all your interaction, support and messages regarding SkyBabyRecords throughout 2010. And if you purchased any of our music on CD or download – even louder 'thank yous' to you.

2011 is already shaping up to be very busy, with: a new EP and also a new full-length album scheduled from Cellarscape, plus soundtracks from the films 'The Wake', 'The Furred Man' & 'Queen Of Hearts' coming up, PLUS, the debut Ash Tree Lane record. There's also a chance for a couple more film soundtracks to come out... but we'll announce those when they're confirmed.

We're entering out 11th year of being an independent label for Paul Terry's musical meanderings, so for 2011, expect lots of extra, exclusive freebies from SkyBabyRecords too. Until then, have another mince pie... go on!

Cellarscape: $5 Sale for December - December 1, 2010

When 4 really means 5... - November 11, 2010

The forthcoming new EP from Cellarscape, previously stated as a 4-track "interval" record, will now be 5-tracks. Seems that Cellarscape can't escape the 5-track format from previous EPs 'Copilot' and 'Fifth Phoenix' – but it just means more songs, so it's all good as far as we're concerned.
We'll be announcing the finalised tracklisting for 'A Theta/Delta Union' very soon...

Ash Tree Lane on film soundtrack - November 5, 2010

The debut of Ash Tree Lane will be a track written exclusively for forthcoming short film 'Queen Of Hearts'. The song, entitled 'The Bait And The Trap' will feature as an instrumental arrangement over the film's end credits, with the full-length version (including vocals) to be featured on the film's soundtrack, to be released on SkyBabyRecords later in 2011.
'The Bait And The Trap' will not feature on Ash Tree Lane's debut EP, due out in early 2011.
